HESPERIA — Hart’s girls softball team managed to walk off with a tough 11-10 victory over Hesperia in a pre-district game on the Lady Panthers’ diamond Tuesday afternoon.

It was a complete team effort for the Lady Pirates, as every member of the team contributed in some fashion to the victory that moves them on in the tournament.

Finley Kistler pitched the first five innings for Hart, and then gave way to Gabby Quijas who ultimately picked up the win with one inning of work.

Skylar Smith had a huge game at the plate, hitting for the cycle, including a game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. She finished the game with four hits and a walk.

Abby Hicks also contributed a base hit as well as two walks, and scored the winning run on a well-executed at-bat by Makayla Rockwell.

Rockwell, Gabby Schmieding, Quijas and Allysen Hopkins all added hits for the Lady Pirates.

Emma Joppich pitched 6 2/3 innings and took the loss for the Lady Panthers.

Ali Townsend led the way at the plate with two hits, two walks and two RBI. Joppich also had two hits, including a home run, two walks, drove in two runs and scored two runs. Adriana Slate contributed one hit with one RBI and one run scored.

The Lady Pirates are next scheduled to play Mason County Central in Scottville at 10 a.m. Saturday in the district.
