Muskegon Catholic Central vs. Grandville Calvin Christian

GRANDVILLE – Muskegon Catholic Central’s baseball team lost a 6-0 decision to Grandville Calvin Christian in a non-league game on Friday on the road.

Sam Convertini took the loss for the Crusaders, giving up five unearned runs while walking one and striking out five in four innings of work.

Dewey Modaff led the hitting attack for the Crusaders with three hits, while Bryan Convertini, Nick Powell and Sam Kartes had two hits apiece. The Crusaders stranded 14 runners on base.

The Crusaders fell to 11-11 on the season.

Ravenna vs. Tri-County

HOWARD CITY — Ravenna’s baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Howard City Tri County, 12-2 and 13-9 on the road Friday afternoon.

In the first game Brandon McFarren picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs, throwing three innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits with two strike outs.

Collin Poley finished the game and gave up two runs on four hits with two strike outs over two innings.

Ravenna pounded out nine hits, with Poley leading the way, going 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Dayton Thomas was 2-for-2 with two RBI and three runs scored.

Thomas McCullough went 2-for-4 with one RBI and three runs scored. McFarren had one hit and one RBI while Hogan also added one hit with one RBI and two runs scored.

Ravenna won the nightcap despite being out-hit, 9-7 for the game. Travis May was the winning pitcher, throwing four innings and allowing eight runs (five earned), walking four and striking out five.

Poley again pitched in relief, throwing three innings and giving up one run and two hits with one strike out.

Thomas led the hitting attack for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs scored. May, McFarren, Poley, Drew Mabrito and Owen Scott had one hit apiece. McCullough, May and McFarren each had one RBI.

Holton vs. Morley Stanwood

HOLTON — Holton’s baseball team swept a Central State Activities Association-Silver doubleheader from Morley Stanwood, 3-2 and 12-2 at home Friday afternoon.

Kevin Erickson started the game on the mound for the Red Devils, throwing five innings and allowing two runs with two strike outs. Austin Fowler earned the win in relief, pitching two innings and striking out four.

No Red Devil had more than one hit. Erickson won the game with a walk off single in the bottom of the seventh. Fowler, Rice Robins, Steven Kersting, Brodrick Fialek and Bo Larabee all had one hit apiece.

Carter Brant was the winning pitcher in Game 2, throwing 4 2/3 innings and giving up two earned runs with five strike outs. Fowler threw 1 1/3 innings of relief and struck out four.

Fowler was 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored. Brant was 2-for-3 with one RBI, two runs scored and one stolen base.

Kersting was 2-for-2 with one RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Fialek went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Larabee went 2-for-3 with one RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Robins had one hit, one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base. Chase Albright had one hit, one RBI and one run scored.

Gabe Colon had one hit and one RBI, while Erickson had two stolen bases and one RBI.
