Ludington vs. Manistee

MANISTEE — Ludington’s girls softball team swept a Lakes 8 Activities Conference doubleheader from Manistee, 6-5 and 12-6 on the road Thursday afternoon and secured the league title with a 6-0 record.

Lilli Goodrich pitched both games, and threw a total of 14 innings as she completed each game in the pitcher’s circle.

She gave up five hits and three walk while registering 10 strike outs in the first game.

Keeley Curtis was the Lady Orioles’ leading hitter in Game 1, going 3-for-3 with two RBI while Brynn Fortner went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Goodrich, Brynn Cole and Ayiana Rangel each contributed a double to the offense.

In the second game, Goodrich allowed the Chippewas eight hits, walked three and struck out 11 batters.

At the plate, Katelynn Karnes was 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI, Goodrich was also 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI while Rebecca Szoboszlay was 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI. Jody Meisenheimer contributed a triple and Fortner had a double.

Fruitport vs. Whitehall

FRUITPORT — Fruitport’s girls softball team turned back Whitehall, 6-2 in a non-conference game at home on Thursday afternoon.  

Kadence Springstead was the winning pitcher, giving up one run on five hits, walking one and striking out six over seven innings of work.  

The Lady Trojans out-hit the Lady Vikings, 10-5. Four players had two hits. Teagan Schultz was 2-for-4 wiht two runs scored, Springstead went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, Olive Staal was 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored while Rylee Lusk went 2-for-4.  

Brooklyn Russell had one hit and one RBI, while Maddie Kohnke also had a hit.  

Hatcher had one hit, one RBI and a run scored. Leatrea, Dempsey and Tucker each had a hit.  

Leatrea was the losing pitcher. She gave up six runs on 10 hits, walked two and struck out one.  

Ravenna vs. Wayland

WAYLAND — Ravenna’s girls softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to Wayland Union, 5-0 and 9-3 on the road Thursday afternoon.

In the first game Emma Gillard took the loss in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs, allowing three runs on 10 hits while walking one and striking out two.

Addison Gillard came in to relieve her in the sixth inning and gave up two runs on three hits and struck out one.

Maddie Kilbourne led the Lady Bulldogs at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double while Amelia Porter had one hit.

In the second game Addison Gillard was the losing pitcher, giving up six runs on eight hits and striking out two. Emma Herremans came on in relief in the fifth inning and allowed three runs on three hits, walked three and struck out one.

Emma Gillard went 3-for-3 with two triples to lead the Lady Bulldogs at the plate. Herremans was 3-for-4 while Kilbourne, Kendra Denhof and Ellie Solem each had one hit.

Holton vs. Hart

Holton’s girls softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Hart, 12-5 and 9-2 on Thursday afternoon.

In the first game Ryann Robins earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle, striking out seven.

Robins also paced the Lady Red Devils at the plate going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI. Gianna Reed was 2-for-4 with a home run.

Kenzie Greene was 2-for-4 with a double, Abbie Fowler was 2-for-5 and Grace Thompson added a double.

In the second game Fowler was the winning pitcher and finished with seven strike outs.

Greene, Fowler and Emma Monette each went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Thompson and Robins each contributed a double.

Holton improved to 18-6 on the season.
