SPRING LAKE–Ludington’s baseball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to Spring Lake on Wednesday afternoon, 2-1 and 11-0.

Hayden Madl gave the Orioles another strong pitching performance in the first game against the Lakers, keeping them in it from start to finish.

Madl threw five innings and gave up two runs on three its while striking out three.

But fatigue entered the picture in the nightcap, and the Orioles ran out of pitching. Evan McCarthy pitched 1 1/3 innings in the second game and gave up three runs on four hits.

Also, the Orioles experienced trouble making the most of their chances at the plate.

The Orioles left too many runners on base, which stunted their chances of doing better.

Ludington dropped to 12-6 overall.
