Shelby Girls Soccer

SHELBY –The Shelby girls soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against Reed City on Monday evening.

The Tigers held a 2-1 lead through the second half before Reed City bagged the tying goal with 14 minutes left to play.

Aubrey Klotz opened the scoring for the Tigers with a goal off of an assist from Kendall Zaverl. Shortly after her assist, Zaverl knocked in a goal of her own with three minutes left in the first half.

Despite not coming away with the win, Coach Peter Peterson was satisfied with the good things he saw on the field.

Defensively we did a nice job of filling the lanes against a good passing team and limiting their looks at the goal,” said Peterson. “Offensively we slowed the game down and tried to take advantage of their outside left and center of the defense.”

We only took five shots on goal but were able to make five quality shot attempts at their keeper.”

Shelby (3-9-2, 2-3-1) will be at home on Tuesday to host Whitehall in WMC action.
