LEROY—The Mason County Central boys track and field team competed in the Pine River Invitational and placed 1st on Saturday. The Spartans finished with a team total score of 157. Pine River finished second with a score of 126.

Other team scores included Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian (84), Coleman (62), Oscoda (30), Grant (27) while Hesperia finished last (0).

Andrew Quinn broke his older brother (Matt Quinns) discus record of 165’7 with a toss of 175’3 3/4″. Quinn also won the shot put with a throw of 52’10”.

It was a great day for a track meet and everybody performed very well.

Field events carried the Spartans on Saturday, as they won every field event and watching Quinn break the discus record was very impressive. He has some bragging rights at home now.

Cullen Kraus-McCarty ran great today, he set two personal records placing 3rd in the 800 with a time of 2:20.8 and placed 4th in the mile with a personal record of 5:16.19.

Jeremiah Patterson was a triple winner in the long jump (19’4) 110 Hurdles (17.29) and 300 Hurdles with a time of 45.16.

Mason Central had four girls competing and placed 4th as a team with 41 points. All four girls had personal bests.

Reaghan Brooks won the pole vault (7′) and finished 3rd in the discus with a personal best (72’2.5″).

Jayden Baker placed 3rd in 100m (14.69), 3rd in the 200m (30.44), and 3rd in the 400m with a personal best (1:07.61).

Ava Brooks placed 4th in the 100m with a personal best (15.12), 5th in the 200m (31.5) and 6th in the 400m (1:10.56).

Ashlyn Rose Kelley took 6 seconds off her personal best in the 800m (3:31.89).
