SCOTTVILLE — Will Chye picked up the win in the opener and Jacob Johnson earned the victory in the nightcap as the Mason County Central baseball team swept a West Michigan Conference doubleheader from visiting Shelby, 10-5 and 4-0 at home Wednesday night.

Only two of the Shelby runs were earned, while Chye allowed five hits and struck out three in 5 2/3 innings. Braylon Thurow pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and struck out two.

Brady Anes drove in one run and scored three, Simon Shimel had three RBI and scored a run. Johnson had two RBI, Gage Ruiz had a RBI and one run scored. Owen Shimel scored two runs. Raiden Keefer also singled.

Anes paced the Spartans at the plate in the nightcap with two hits and a run scored. Tyler Thurow had two RBI with a run scored, Johnson had a RBI and a run scored, Braylin Thurow had a RBI, Peyton Merz scored a run while Chye and Ruiz each had hits.

Johnson gave up six hits, two walks and struck out two on the mound.
