Montague girls capture regional track title in Division 3 meet, Kent City finishes third and North Muskegon trail in seventh

MONTAGUE — Montague hosted and won the girls’ Division 3 regional track titles on Saturday.
The Wildcats used two relays and added two other first-places finishes in putting together 116.5 points in the 14-team meet.
Kent City finished third with 79.5 points while North Muskegon had 36 for seventh, Ravenna 26 for ninth and Newaygo 13 for 12th.
Claire Meacham won the shot put and discus for Montague, while the team added first places in the 400- and 800-meter relays. Montague also picked up seconds from Amanda Cedarquist in the 100-meter hurdles and its 1,600-meter relay team.
Kent City’s Taryn Preston won the 300-meter hurdles and finished second in shot put. Kylie Brown also came in second in the 400-meter dash while Lila Volkers did the same thing in the 1,600-meter run.
Mickenzie Braucheau took second in the high jump for Kent City.
North Muskegon won the 3,200-meteer relay and picked up a second in the 800-meter run from Carolyn Bennett.
