The Montague Wildcats got the best of rival Whitehall in a West Michigan Conference baseball doubleheader in Whitehall on Tuesday.

Montague pitching suffocated the Vikings, as Wildcat pitchers gave up just one hit on the day while posting a 12-1 win in the opener and a 5-0 shutout in Game 2.

Pitcher Kade Johnson threw a no-hitter to earn the win in Game 1 with nine strikeouts and no walks over five innings. Johnson also came through at the plate with three hits and three RBIs.

The Wildcats were led at the plate by Nick Moss with three hits, including a double and two RBIs. Colton Blankstrom belted a home run and finished with a pair of hits and 3 RBIs.

In the nightcap, Owen Petersen and Colton Blankstrom combined for the win. Petersen struck out three through four innings while Blankstrom struck out four over three innings.

Tugg Nichols led at the plate with a pair of hits that included a two-run homer.

Landon Howe earned the only hit for Whitehall on the day in Game 2.

Montague is now 13-7 overall and 10-0 in the WMC.
