REED CITY — Ludington’s girls softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to Reed City on the road Tuesday afternoon, 2-1 and 13-1.

Oriole Lilli Goodrich pitched the complete 6 2/3 innings in game one and took the loss. She gave up six hits while striking out 12. Only one of the runs was earned.

Offensively, Brynn Cole was 3-for-4 and Goodrich and Ayiana Rangel each hit a double.

In game two, Sam Hanson started on the mound and took the loss. She went two innings, giving up five hits and one walk. Jody Meisenheimer pitched the remaining two innings. She gave up three hits and one walk while striking out one.

Goodrich and Keeley Curtis were each 1-for-2 and Ayiana Rangel had an RBI.

“These were good games for us to play going into districts, especially that first game,” said Oriole coach Sierra Holms. “Reed City is a good team, and they make plays.

“We saw good pitching too. Our young kids also got some experience tonight. That said, we’re just a little bit out of rhythm right now.

“We really haven’t been able to have a solid practice in quite a while due to weather, games, and graduation, so we’re looking forward to being able to work on some things tomorrow and get ourselves prepared for districts.”

Ludington fell to 16-12 on the season.
