GRAND RAPIDS — Mona Shores’ girls softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader with Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central, 13-4 and 17-1 on the road Thursday afternoon.

Macey Spaniola earned the win in the pitcher’s circle for the Sailors, allowing only one earned run on nine hits and finished with five strike outs.

The Sailors had 13 hits, led by Brooklyn Graham who had three. Elizabeth Savacool, Abbie Critchett and Maggie McCarthy each had two with McCarthy and Savacool with three RBI each.

With their bats heating up early in the second game, the Sailors instituted the 10-run lead rule to be initiated and closed it out early.

Mia Geoghan was the winning pitcher, giving up one run on just four hits and striking out three over three innings.

The Sailors knocked out 11 hits with Graham and McCarthy each getting two. Spaniola, Geoghan and Savacool had three RBI apiece.
