SCOTTVILLE — Shelby’s girls softball team split a West Michigan Conference doubleheader with Mason County Central, losing the opener 9-8 and winning the nightcap 6-4 on the road Thursday.

Kaylynn Clark, Kendall Zoulek and Daphne Clark each had two hits for the Tigers in the opener. Jackie Hammerle contributed a single. Daphne Clark had three runs batted in.

Daphne Clark struck out four batters in taking the loss for the Tigers.

In the nightcap, Daphne Clark was on the mound and this time picked up the win. She had four strikeouts.

Daphne Clark, Hammerle and Clair Gowell each had a hit for the Tigers. Gowell drove in one run.
