Indian’s 1,600 relay team secures tie, Holton’s James Hunter wins three events

BRETHREN — White Cloud’s 1,600-meter relay team finished fourth in the final event Saturday and earned White Cloud a share of the Division 4 regional track title.

White Cloud and Wyoming Potter’s House each had 138 points in the first-place tie.Potter’s House won the final relay to cause the tie.

Holton had a three-event winner in James Hunter who won the 100-meter dash, 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. He had times of 11.92-seconds in the 100, 15.60-seconds in the high hurdles and 41.45-seconds in the 300 hurdles.

Mason Eastern finished third in the 14-team meet with 60 points. WM Christian had 57 for fourth; Pentwater 49 for fifth; Fruitport CC 48 for sixth; Holton 47 for seventh; Manistee Catholic 37 for eighth; Muskegon Heights 22 for a tie for ninth and Muskegon Catholic Central seven for 13th.

White Cloud picked up first places from Jace Silverthorn and Joel Bradley. Silverthorn won the shot put and traded places with Bradley who won the discus.

Muskegon Heights won the 400- and 800-meter relay events. First places also went to Jaron Childres in the 200-meter dash.

Western Michigan Christian’s Joel McKay took the pole vault event.

Dakota Matzen, from Mason County Eastern, captured an individual title in the 400-meter dash.

Fruitport Calvary’s Bradley Richards took first in the high jump.
