WMC takes home the regional title in front of Mason County Eastern, White Cloud, Manistee Catholic, Fruitport Calvary Christian, Muskegon Catholic, Holton and Walkerville

BRETHREN — Abby VanderKooi won three distance races Saturday in leading Western Michigan Christian to a Division 4 regional team title on Saturday.

VanderKooi won the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs in pacing WMC to 147 points in the 14-team meet. The senior leader had times of 2:24.87 in the 800-, 5:05.40 in the 1,600- and 11:13.12 in the 3,200-meter runs.

The Warriors were also led by first-place finishes from Ava Rotman in the 400-meter dash and Kyla Wiersema in the 100-meter high hurdles and high jump for WMC.

WMC also won the 3,200-meter relay with a 10:07.93 time.

Mason County Eastern came in third with 101 points while White Cloud finished fourth 81.75. Pentwater had 47 points for fifth, Manistee Catholic 41.75 for sixth, Fruitport Calvary Christian 31 for eighth, Muskegon Catholic Central 17 for 10th, Holton four for 13th and Walkerville one for 14th.

MCE’s Olivia Wing won the 300-meter hurdles, Hilary Howe the pole vault and Corinna Hernandez the shot pu and Gaby Reeve won the discus event.

White Cloud took first place in the 400-meter relay while Fruitport Calvary Christian’s 1,600-meteer relay team took first and Nora Pollock won the 200-meter dash.
