CLARE — Fruitport’s baseball team saw its season come to an end in the MHSAA Division 2 regional tournament championship game with a 7-0 loss to Bay City John Glenn at Clare on Saturday.

John Glenn then lost, 3-2, to Ada Forest Hills Eastern in the quarterfinal game.

John Glenn stifled the Trojans’ offense, shutting them down on just one hit over the seven innings. John Glenn had six hits.

The Trojans committed one error, while John Glenn played an error-free game.

Fruitport trailed, 2-0 at the end of one and John Glenn made it 3-0 with a single run in the top of the fifth. John Glenn put up a four-spot in the seventh.

Mayson Whitlow had the only hit for the Trojans, which came in the fourth inning.

Cody Matuz was on the hill for the Trojans, and gave up three runs on just one hit over 4 1/3 innings. He finished with nine strikeouts.

Gavin Reames and Ryan Bosch each threw in relief.  Reames worked 1 1/3 innings and Bosch 1 inning.

Fruitport finished 24-9-1.
