KENT CITY–Kent City runner Kierra Flegel will continue her athletic and academic career at Grace Christian University next year.

The senior signed her national letter of intent in mid-March, a few weeks before starting her final season of track and field as a high schooler.

Flegel has been a part of several successful teams at Kent City. As a junior, she was a member of the Eagles’ state runner-up basketball team. This year, she helped Kent City earn another state runner-up trophy, this time in cross country. Flegel ran a personal-best and her first sub-20 minute 5,000-meter run at the state meet with a 19:59.

We sure will miss Kierra, her enthusiasm and her versatility around Kent City,” said Kent City coach Jill Evers. “I appreciate her silliness, fun attitude, and yet her ability to focus and run strong. Kierra will be a welcomed addition to Grace Christian’s team.”

Grace Christian University, formerly Grace Bible College, is an NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) DII school located in Grand Rapids. Flegel will look to be an important contributor right away on the cross country and track teams.

Flegel plans to study sports medicine at Grace.

She is the daughter of Rebecca and Eric Flegel.
