EAST LANSING–The young Pentwater Falcons improved their score by 11 strokes from the first day to the second day in the Division 4 state golf meet.

The Falcons had scores of 377 and 366 to finish with 743 strokes and 16th place in the meet, which was at Forest Akers West in East Lansing.

Lansing Christian captured the state title with a two-day total of 622. Clarkton Everett Collegiate was a distant second at 646 and Maple City Glen Lake was third with a 655.

Royal Oak Shrine’s Jeffrey Andrus was the medalist at 72-72-144.

Pentwater, with two sophomores, two freshmen and one junior, was led by junior Andrew Kolenda with a two-day total of 175 (89-86).

Sophomore Alivia Kolenda and freshman Nathan Macher each checked in at 187. Kolenda and Macher both had 94-93 for the two days. Hunter Cornelisse, another sophomore, finished at 194 (100-94) and freshman Mikey Carlson had a solid second with a 95. He had a 108 on the opening day and finished at 203.

Two individuals from the area also competed. Holton senior Wyatt Monette came in 45th with a score of 88-89-177 and Muskegon  Catholic senior Trevor Hilson was 87th with 99-97-196.
