ALLENDALE–The Spring Lake Lakers dropped three spots on Saturday and finished fifth in the Division 2 state golf finals on Saturday.

The tournament was played at The Meadows in Allendale.

Spring Lake, which shot a 307 on Friday for second place, came back with a 326 on Saturday to finish at 633.

Evan McDermott, Spring Lake’s top golfer, finished third overall with a score of 71-73-144, He was followed by Dylan Lisman, a senior, who had scores of 77-79 for a total of 156. That total was good for 17th overall.

Junior Max Brown was the third finisher at 76-88-164, followed by junior Conrad Bush with a pair of 83s and a total of 166.

Senior RJ Lisman rounded out the Lakers’ roster with an 84-88-172.

Reeths-Puffer’s Tyler Tallefson, competing as an individual, finished 42nd with scores of 78-86 for 164.

Bryce Wheeler from Richland Gull Lake was the medalist at 138.

Bloomfield Brother Rice captured the state title in impressive fashion. Brother Rice had a two-day total of 609, which was 17 strokes better than runner-up Richland Gull Lake.
