FREMONT – The Fremont volleyball team captured their own invitational title on Saturday.

The Packers battled through pool play to clinch a #2 seed in bracket play.

After advancing through the first round of bracket play, the Packers took down Hesperia in two sets.

The win against the Panthers gave the Packers a chance to avenge a loss earlier in the day by Western Michigan Christian.

It was a fitting battle for the championship with the Packers finishing off the Warriors in two close sets (25-20, 26-24).

Kendall Barnhart had 40 digs, 25 kills and 12 aces, while Avery Christoffersen got 48 digs and 10 aces.

Carle Bruggema added 102 assists, 23 kills and eight aces and Sage Vandenberg threw in 35 kills and four blocks.

Syd Moon and Marcy Tanner also each contributed eight aces on the day.

Fremont will be back to action on Tuesday when they travel to Mona Shores.
