Hart volleyball kicked off its 2022 season with a Silver Division title at the Officials for Kids Tournament in Grand Rapids on Saturday.

The Pirates finished the day 4-1-1.

Hart topped Zion Christian in the title match, winning, 25-21, 25-10. Gabby Schmieding pulled the Pirates ahead in Game 1 with key service points while Addi Hovey took control at the net in Game 2.

The Game 2 win in the finals was a rebound from when Pirates split their pool play match with Zion (25-14, 21-25),

Hart topped Wyoming Lee 2-0 (25-18, 25-14) in the opening round and topped Holland Black River in the semifinal matchup (25-20, 25-22).

The Pirates went 1-1-1 in pool play to start the day, beating Calhoun Christian, 25-15; 25-19. After splitting with Zion, Hart fell to Lansing Christian, 21-25; 12-25.

Hart was led by Schmieding with 20 aces, 21 assists, 4 kills, and 10 digs while Addi Hovey totaled 8 aces, 31 kills, 4 blocks, 2 assists and 9 digs. Mariana VanAgtmael had 11 aces, 1 kill, and 31 digs and MaKayla Rockwell posted 6 aces, 22 assists, 4 kills, and 12 digs. 

Laura Bitely finished with 8 digs, Mya Chickering tallied 24 kills, 2 digs, and 1 block, Rayah Helenhouse had 2 assists, Kelsey Copenhaver totaled 13 aces, 7 kills, 2 blocks, and 1 dig and Grace Gamble finished with 11 aces, 3 assists, 2 kills, and 6 digs.
