LUDINGTON — The Ludington Orioles captured first place in a quad tennis match on Saturday.
The event, hosted by Ludington, was at the Schoenherr Tennis Center.
Coach Rob Killips couldn’t help but be sporting a wide grin after the Orioles posted seven victories out of a possible eight against the runner-up Cadillac Vikings.
Traverse City West and Reeths-Puffer also participated. Ludington finished with 20 points, followed by Cadillac with 14. TC West and Reeths-Puffer tied with 7.
“I thought all our flights played well today,” Killips said. “Now, we just have to continue to improve as the season goes on.”
Ludington went 4-0 in the singles flights against a team the Orioles will see in the regional tournament.
Those wins were posted by No. 1 Charles Kolb, No. 2 Robby Killips, Jack Stidham at No. 3 capped by Reece Ward at No. 4 singles.
Andrew Barz and Nathan Reisterer captured the No. 1 doubles flight, while Will James and Rylan Miretti took care of business at No. 3 doubles.
Next up for the Orioles is a dual match Tuesday at 9 a.m. against Traverse City West in Traverse City.
