COOPERSVILLE –The Montague volleyball team opened up the season with a tough loss at the Coopersville Invitational on Friday.

The Wildcats finished 1-3 on the day and posted their single win against Oakridge (25-18, 15-25, 15-1).

The squad’s three losses came at the hands of Reeths-Puffer (20-25, 25-27), Holland Christian (22-25, 10-25, 25-21) and Byron Center (20-25, 16-25, 14-25).

Several Wildcats chipped in on the production on the day.

Jaelyn Sundberg offered up 11 assists, eight digs and one ace, while Maizie Collins had six digs, three aces and three kills. Alissa Wynn added six digs with four aces and Britta Johnson made five kills, three digs and scored an ace.

Also, Jacy Arigotti got in on the action with 11 digs.

Montague will compete again next Monday (August 29) at Zeeland East.
