BENZONIA — Hart built a 4-0 lead at the half and cruised to a 5-1 non-conference boys soccer win over Benzie Central on Wednesday night.

The game was played in Benzonia.

After a slow start, which found the Pirates looking for an opening in the compact Huskies defense, a weak pass from a Benzie defender across the middle was intercepted by senior team captain Blane Bromley. He beat the Huskies’ keeper for the game’s first goal.

Josue Salgado scored his first career goal, getting on the end of a cut back cross from Guillermo Ortega 18 minutes into the game.

Adan Cruz then made a quick give-and-go through the heart of the Benzie defense. Tony Rayo played the quick ball back for Cruz to rocket a shot past the Benzie keeper to make it 3-0 for the Pirates.

Hart freshman Isaiah Carreon notched the last goal of the half with a tap-in goal at the back post.

The Pirates tallied their final goal of the game early in the second half. Bryce Jorissen sent a ball that split the Benzie defense.

Benzie’s lone goal came as the result of a bad hop that bounced past sophomore keeper JJ Bizon.

Benzie could manage only one shot on goal in the first half on senior keeper Kyan Clark.

Miguel Escamilla, a freshman, split the second half in net with Bizon, each playing 20 minutes.

The Pirates return to action Saturday at the Kent City Invite against Hopkins at 9 a.m.
