SHELBY — Mason Garcia and Mauricio Castillo each scored two goals in the Shelby boys soccer team’s 4-0 West Michigan Conference win over Orchard View at home Wednesday night.

Garcia notched his first goal of the game after receiving an assist from Alan Arreola.

After that, the Tigers dominated possession and continued to throughout the rest of the game.

Castillo tallied the second goal of the game for Shelby, when he made a run for Alejandro Perez, who passed the ball through the Cardinals defense and found Castillo’s feet.

Garcia then found the back of the net again with Carson Claeys providing the assist to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.

The Tigers scored their final goal of the night with just two minutes left in the game with Arreola getting the ball to Castillo, who went around the OV defender to score.

Shelby won its sixth straight game, improving its record to 9-8 overall and 6-2 in the conference where it currently holds down third place behind front runner Ludington and second place Manistee.

Next up for the Tigers is a home match against non-conference opponent Lakeview on Thursday night.

Orchard View hasn’t won since defeating Catholic Central, 7-1 back in its fourth game of the season. The Cardinals are 1-13-1 overall and 0-9-1 in the conference, and aren’t scheduled to play again until traveling to Hart next Wednesday.
