GRANT– Justin Dirheimer rushed for 296 yards and two touchdowns and led the Fremont Packers to a 30-8 victory over the Grant Tigers on Friday night.

Dirheimer’s yardage came on a whopping 37 carries.

The Packers got off to an 8-0 first quarter start with a 3-yard touchdown run by Connor Pettis.

Dirheimer found the end zone on a 6-yard rush with 3:23 remaining in the second quarter to push the lead to 16. With 36 seconds left in the half, Dirheimer ran 30 yards for a touchdown to give the Packers a 22-0 halftime lead.

Kyler DeKuiper found Dirheimer on a 28-yard touchdown pass for the only score of the third quarter that put Fremont up 30-0.

Grant was able to punch one in late with 3:44 left remaining in the ballgame to end the scoring.

Dirheimer was not only the leading rusher, but also the leading receiver with the 28-yard touchdown reception. DeKuiper was 2-of-4 passing for 42 yards and a touchdown. He rushed for 66 yards on 13 carries. Pettis had five carries for 17 yards and a touchdown.

The Fremont defense was anchored by Michael Romero with six tackles and Owen Hertel with five tackles, two for loss. Daniel Romero made four tackles and intercepted two Tiger passes.

Fremont improves to 3-1 and will go on the road to undefeated Oakridge next Friday.

Grant (1-3) travels to conference foe Newaygo next week.
