HOLLAND—The Grand Haven Buccaneers boys cross country team captured the 40th West Ottawa Bredeweg Invite title on Saturday held in Holland at Macatawa Bay Middle School.

Grand Haven finished with a team score of 53. Zeeland West finished in the runner-up position with 86 points and the Hart Pirates came in 3rd place with a team score of 103.

Other boys team scores included: Holland Christian (152), Allendale (196), Spring Lake (201), Forest Hills Northern (213), Lowell (217), Zeeland East (239), Kalamazoo Loy Norrix (283), Vicksburg (294), Muskegon Mona-Shores (318), Holland West Ottawa (343), Muskegon Reeths-Puffer (345), GR Kenowa Hills (376), Grandville (382), Holland Black River (444), Coopersville (552), Bangor (565) and Wyoming (645).

Grand Haven junior Seth Norder took top individual honors with a time of 15:55.6. Teammate junior Nolan Clark finished runner-up with a time of 15:56.4 and Mona Shores senior Caleb Branch came in 3rd place with a time of 16:04.0.

Rounding out the top ten individual finishers were: Clayton Ackley (Hart), Gavin Wiersma (Zeeland East), Will Engbers (Holland Christian), Wyatt Dean (Hart), Chase Holwerda (Zeeland West), Benjamin Bromley (Lowell) and Seth Ackley (Hart).

In the girls division Holland West Ottawa took top team honors with a score of 58. Finishing runner-up was Zeeland East with a 122 team score and they were followed by Jension with a team total of 136.

Other girls team results included: Zeeland West (144), Grand Haven (179, Forest Hills Northern (181), Muskegon Mona Shores (186), Spring Lake (189), Hart (198), Lowell ( 219), Kalamazoo Loy Norrix (237), Vicksburg (328), Grandville (331), Holland Christian (395), GR Kenowa Hills (405), Coopersville (458), Muskegon Reeths-Puffr (470), Holland Black River (516) and Bangor (613).

Holland West Ottawa sophomore Helen Sachs took top individual honors finishing with a time of 17:22.6. Her senior teammate Arianne Olson came in 2nd place with a time of 17:38.2 and Grandville senior finished in 3rd place with a time of 18:07.2.

Other top ten finishers included: Allison Kuzma (Zeeland East), Jessica Jazwinski (Hart), Annika Sandman (Lowell), Alyson Enns (Hart), Valerie Beeck (Grand Haven), Maya Guikema (Jenison) and Jordyn Klaasen (Zeeland West).
