ZEELAND–The final 2 minutes of the half was all the Muskegon Big Reds needed to create the separation against the Zeeland East Chix and eventually prevail with a 41-19 win.

East had a 7-6 lead against Muskegon (3-1) until 1:26 left in the second quarter when Big Reds quarterback M’Khi Guy found the endzone on a 23-yard touchdown run.

The Big Reds defense held the Chix (0-4) to a three-and-out on their next possession forcing a punt on fourth down, but a bad snap from the Chix gave the Big Reds the opportunity to score to close out the half.

Guy found junior Da’Carion Taylor for a 11-yard touchdown reception leaving just 6 seconds left in the half to extend Muskegon’s lead 20-7.

Muskegon kept the scoring momentum going after the halftime break but this time with the defense. Senior CJ Ivy stripped a Chix runner and scampered down the sideline for a 50-yard score to give the Big Reds a 27-7 lead.

East responded with a third-quarter touchdown of their own as sophomore Eli Walcott found the end zone.

Muskegon scored the next two touchdowns in the fourth quarter as junior Jakob Price scored from 13 yards out and M’Khi Guy found Destin Piggee for a 57-yard touchdown pass.

East would finish the scoring with Austin Keur finding Noah Dewitt in the end zone.

Guy rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown. He threw for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Jakob Price led the Big Reds’ rushing attack with 73 yards and a touchdown.

Muskegon will continue OK Green play next week against unbeaten Zeeland West Friday at Hackley Stadium.
