EAST LANSING—The Hart boys and girls cross country teams both finished in the runner-up positions on Friday afternoon at the MSU Spartan Invitational.

Hart competed in the White Division in the event, which was at the Forest Akers East Golf Course.

In the boys’ division, Capital Homeschool took top team honors with 62, while the Pirates finished with 75. Hanover-Horton came in third place with 108. Mason County Central finished in 22nd place at 562.

Hart senior Clayton Ackley took top individual honors, finishing in 16:25.27. Other top finishers for Hart included: senior Wyatt Dean (10th), senior Seth Ackley (12th), sophomore Max Stitt (22nd), senior Caleb Bitely (30th), senior Easton Vander Zwaag (33rd), freshmen Jack Slotman (37th), senior Josef Bromley (63rd) and junior Tyler Vanderzanden (66th).

Senior Gavin Shirey of Mason County finished in 49th place.

In the girls’ division, Jackson Lumen Christi took top team honors with 60. Hart finished with 80 points while Kalamazoo Christian came in third place with 185.

Mason County Central finished in 26th place.

Hart sophomore Jessica Jazwinski took top individual honors with a time of 18:22.03.

Other top finishers for Hart included: junior Alyson Enns (third), sophomore Lexie Beth Nienhuis (16th), senior Savanna Owens (30th), Abigail Pretty (34th) and freshmen Kenai Kohx (54th).

In the boys’ bronze division, Whitehall finished in seventh place with 235 points and Newaygo finished in 26th place.

Whitehall senior Andre Richmond came in fourth place with a time of 16:36.99. His senior teammate Carter McIIroy came in eighth place with a time of 16:58.43.

Other local top individual finishers for the day included: Sean Pettis (Fremont/23rd), John Christensen (Fremont/35th), Henrik Quist (Fremont/37th), Peyton Ruel (Oakridge/39th) and Stewart Waters (Whitehall/48th).

In the girls’ bronze division, Whitehall finished in 10th place with a score of 281 while Newaygo came in 20th place.

Top local individual finishers for the day included: Cami Kraai (Whitehall/14th), Remington Arney (Newaygo/16th), Ariana Treat (Whitehall/34th), Adalyn Britton (Whitehall/58th), Allison Tate (Whitehall/67th) and Merceydez Patton (Oakridge/72nd).
