MUSKEGON — The Benton Harbor Tigers scored a late touchdown on Friday night and defeated the host Muskegon Catholic Central Crusaders 28-20 in a game played at Kehren Stadium.

With the game tied at 20-all, the Tigers scored on a 6-yard run by quarterback Jaeden Meeks, then added the 2-point conversion to grab an eight-point lead with less than 3 minutes remaining.

David Hill scored the Crusaders’ first touchdown on a 1-yard run. MCC scored later on a 5-yard run. Quarterback Bryan Convertini then connected with Braden Gusten for a 50-yard touchdown pass to knot the score at 20-all.

Hill led the MCC rushing attack with 15 carries for 72 yards. Convertini completed 5-of-12 passes for 140 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

On defense, Convertini had an interception. Easten Cook had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. Sam Kartes had nine tackles and also recovered a fumble.

Meeks completed 21-of-30 passes for 245 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. His favorite target was Davionte Tasker, who caught five passes for 158 yards and three touchdowns.

Muskegon Catholic travels out-of-state next week with a game in Fulton, Illinois.
