SCOTTVILLE — Coming in with an 0-3 record, the Mason County Central football team needed a win badly and exploded for a 48-0 victory over Holton on the road Friday night in the Western Michigan Conference-Rivers.

The Spartans built an 18-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, and never looked back.

“All three phases of the game went well tonight,” Spartans coach Scott Briggs said. “Special teams, offense, defense … so the team played very well together.

“Real good teamwork, everybody was doing their job, and good things happened. It was good to see. The team needed it. Going in 0-3, the team needed the win.”

Jayden Perrone got the Spartans started with a 16-yard run. Will Chye followed with a 39-yard run and Riley McLouth closed out the first quarter scoring with a 26-yard reception from Chye.

Chye started the second quarter by completing a 33-yard pass. Peyton Merz added a two-yard run and Perrone scored for the second time on a five-yard run with Perrone adding the point after kick.

Tyler Thurow scored the last Spartans touchdown on a 69-yards scamper and Perrone kicked the point after.
