WYOMING — Mona Shores, led by sophomore quarterback Jonathon Pittman, got off to a scorching start in the Sailors’ 48-14 win over Wyoming on Friday night.

Pittman connected on three-straight touchdown passes in the first quarter as the visiting Sailors jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

Jaylen Vinton connected on a pair of TD passes from Pittman, the first for a 25-yard score and the second from 21 yards out. Vinton also found the end zone a third time with a 37-yard punt return in the second quarter.

The Sailors’ Ke’Waun Farnum pulled in a scoring strike from 9 yards out to finish the opening quarter while Dahmir Farnum broke free for a 16-yard scoring run to start the second quarter.

Mona Shores took a 35-0 lead into half on a 10-yard catch by Amari Richardson for Pittman’s fourth and final touchdown pass in the first half.

Bishop Lee capped off scoring for the Sailors in the fourth quarter with a 15-yard touchdown run.

Pittman finished 10 of 15 passing for 138 yards as the Sailors amassed 401 total yards of offense.

The Mona Shores ground attack was led by Dahmir Farnum with 79 yards on six rushes. Tomarion Steward broke free with an 83-yard rush for the longest run of the night.

Andrew Baker led the Sailor defense with seven tackles while Trent Rosenthal had six. Ja’Mari Taylor made five tackles and Brandon Bankard had four tackles and one interception.

The Sailors are now 3-1 overall, 2-0 in the O-K Green and next play at home against Grand Rapids Union on Friday, September 23.
