EVART–The Mason County Eastern boys  cross country team finished in the runner-up position (small school division) on Saturday at the Evart Wildcat Invitational held at Springhill Camps in Evart while the Cardinal girls managed a 4th place finish.

In the boys division North Trails took top team honors with a score of 41 points, while Eastern finished with 50 points. Carson City-Crystal finished in 3rd place with 113 points.

Mason County Eastern senior Nathan Wing took top individual honors with a finishing time of 17:21.9.

Other top finishers for MCE included: junior Luke Niedzielski (8th), Alex Tyndall (9th), junior Peter Hybza (11th), junior Clay Shoup (21st), sophomore Ron Hasenbank (23rd) and sophomore Henry Malburg (26th).

In the girls division North Trails took top team honors with a point total of 44, while Leland came in 2nd with 67 points. They were followed by Grand Traverse Academy and Mason County Eastern both who tallied 89 points.

Sophomore Lucy Shoup from Mason County Eastern came in 4th place in the girls division with a finishing time of 21:48.4

Other top MCE finishers included: freshmen Lauren Niedzielski (8th), junior Olivia Wing (15th), junior Elizabeth Logan (28th), freshmen Elena Hopkins (34th), sophomore Isabella Gulembo (37th), and senior Chloe Nin Treguier (39th).

In the boys large school division Hesperia came in 7th place with a team score of 207 points.

Top finishers from Hesperia included: junior Stephen Priese (17th), sophomore Andrew Sherburn (35th)and  Lance Smith (46th).

In the girls division Hesperia finished in 12th place with team score of 310. The top individual runner for the Panthers was freshmen Elyssa Wright who came in 58th place with a finishing time of 30:23.0
