HOWARD CITY–The Newaygo Lions offense put 31 points on the board on Friday evening.

The only problem was the Newaygo defense had no answers for the Howard City Tri-County offense as the Vikings racked up a 54-31 Central State Activities-Gold win over the Lions.

The game was played at Tri-County

Grant Harkness led Newaygo with 87 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He had 169 yards passing.

Remy Wells led the Lions with 116 yards receiving. Dyllan Bazzett chipped in 91 yards in the pass game as well.

Harkness also led the team with 11 tackles. Logan Klomp had 10 tackles. Jordan Cook and Dyllan Bazzett each had 8 tackles. Isaiah Lopez had the only turnover for the defense with an interception early in the third quarter.

The Lions (1-3) welcome Coach Force’s alma mater, the Grant Tigers (1-3), next Friday night for homecoming and for the Battle of the M37 Trophy.
