REED CITY–The Newaygo Lions were no match for the Reed City Coyotes on Friday evening.

The Coyotes routed the Lions 62-17 in a CSAA Gold game at Reed City.

The Coyotes jumped out to a 48-10 halftime lead and never looked back enroute to the 45-point win.

The Coyotes rushed for 301 yards on 32 carries.

Reed City gained another 125 yards of offense through the air while Newago gained 131 yards via the pass.

Bryson Hughes led the Coyotes with 89 yards rushing on six carries and two touchdowns. Hughes also had a kickoff return for a touchdown. John Ondrus rushed for 88 yards on six carries and scored one touchdown.

Grant Harkness led Newaygo with 28 yards rushing while Dyllan Bazzett led the Lions with 103 receiving yards.

Porter Slowminski and Blake Kerr led Newaygo with 6 tackles apiece.

The Coyotes improve to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the CSAA Gold and will host Kent City next Friday.

Newaygo falls to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the CSAA Gold. The Lions host Chippewa Hills next Friday.
