NEWAYGO — The Newaygo Lions celebrated homecoming in grand style on Friday night with a 25-12 victory over the Grant Tigers.

Lions’ quarterback Grant Harkness led the Lions’ attack with 77 yards rushing and 76 yards passing, including a touchdown. That touchdown came in the opening quarter when he hit Dylan Bazzett for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

Grant lost the handle on the ball again and this time, Logan Klomp recovered.

Newaygo took a 17-0 lead after one quarter thanks to a late field goal by Josiah Long from 30 yards out.

In the second quarter, Ethan Reyburn scored on a 2-yard run and Harkness added the 2-point conversion and that extended the Lions’ lead to 25-0.

Grant scored two unanswered touchdowns to complete the evening’s scoring.
