BIG RAPIDS–The Oakridge Eagles boys and girls cross country teams each took third-place honors on Saturday at the Ferris State Ray Helsing Bulldog Invite held in Big Rapids at Katke Golf Course.

In the boys division, the Reed City Coyotes took top team honors with a score of 26. They were followed by Big Rapids (35), Oakridge (86) and Howard City Tri-County (88).

The only top ten local individual finisher was sophomore Peyton Ruel, of Oakridge, who completed the course with a time of 18:03.76.

Other finishers for Oakridge included: Garrison Klinge (16th), Blake Armstrong (17th), David Utzinger (23rd) and Anthony Simmerman (28th).

Reed City also took top team honors in the girls’ division with 47. They were followed by Howard City Tri-County (48), Oakridge (58) and Big Rapids (63).

Top individual finishers for Oakridge included junior Merceydez Patton, who finished in 2nd place with a time of 22:52.06, junior Cara Morse in seventh place with a time of 24:44.67 and junior Raegen Ruel came in eighth at 24:54.28. 

Junior Milla Hanks finished in 15th place, while freshmen Alayna Weiss finished 34th for Oakridge.
