PENTWATER — As all good teams do, the Brethren girls volleyball team capitalized on Pentwater’s struggles Monday night.

Brethren handed the Falcons a three-set loss, 16-25, 17-25 and 15-19 in a Western Michigan D League match at Pentwater.

“We could not get anything to work in our favor,” said Pentwater coach Kelly Pascavis. “Our serves were not there, and our pass receive was not there. Without serves and defense, which are two of the most important keys factors in volleyball, to say we had an ‘off’ night is putting it mildly. We know what we need to do, and we will work on it.”

First-year junior Makenna Hasil had an outstanding game with seven service points and two aces and was strong on digs. She was followed by Marissa Sayles, who scored four service points, while Mandi Sayles and Charlie Swanger each added three.

Belle Powers, Jocelyn Richison, Lauren Davis and Sam Schaefer contributed two points apiece while Addison Bringedahl added one.

The Falcons travel to Marion for another WMD dual match on Thursday night.
