Spring Lake goes 4-1-1 at Calvin Christian volleyball tournament

GRANDVILLE –The Spring Lake volleyball team went 4-1-1 in a tournament at Calvin Christian on Saturday.

The Lakers moved through pool play to clinch the top seed in bracket play. 

Spring Lake won against Holland (25-13, 25-19) and Ottawa Hills (25-15, 25-7), then tied with Calvin Christian (25-16, 25-27).

Two more wins against Wyoming (25-13, 25-13) and Potter’s House (25-19, 26-27, 15-12) earned the Lakers a trip to the finals.

The Lakers lost steam in the final match with a hard loss to Covenant Christian (22-25, 20-25).

Kalli Lewkowski accumulated 39 kills, 34 digs and five blocks, while Ella Andree added 23 kills and 16 aces. Rylee Sabo made 51 assists and scored 11 aces. 

Brooke Bolthouse and Emma Nicles also threw in with 39 digs and 22 kills respectively.

Spring Lake (16-7-3) is set to play host to rival Fruitport on Tuesday for an OK Conference-Blue showdown.
