HESPERIA –The Fremont volleyball team won the annual Lori Vargas Volley Against Violence tournament on Saturday.

In pool play, the Packers posted wins against Reed City and Onekama, but tied with Cedar Springs. 

The Packers advanced as the second seed in the Gold Bracket.

Fremont opened up bracket play with a win against Grant, then topped host Hesperia (22-25, 25-15, 15-7) in the championship.

Carle Bruggema racked up 59 assists, 18 aces and eight blocks, while Kendall Barnhart added 22 kills and 10 aces.

Defensively, Baylah Parker and Kenzie Gugins had 48 and 31 digs, respectively.

Fremont will be at Oakridge on Tuesday for their last West Michigan Conference matchup of the regular season.
