SPRING LAKE –The Greater Muskegon co-op swim team participated in the Spring Lake Invitational on Saturday and finished in third place.

The Turtles earned 375 points.

Spring Lake finished in second place with 510 points.

This week the Turtles have swam to 19 personal record swims.

“I was very proud of how we remained strong both physically and mentally this week and picked it up when some people were missing,” said Coach Mick Homan. “The team truly showed a lot of grit and pride and the scores do not show that.”

Sydney Sytsema earned victories in the 50 free (25.90) and 100 back (1:06.00) with a personal-best time.

Naomi Huttenga claimed third-place finishes in 100 fly (1:05.43) with a personal best time and the 100 breast (1:18.05).

The 200 medley relay team of Sytsema, Susie Van Baale, Huttenga and Marilyn Gaston swam to third place with a time of 2:03.69.

Maria Eenigenburg, Elise Bradley, Sophia Zziwambazza and Eva Stout also clinched a third-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:57.65).

The 400 free relay team of Gaston, Stout, Sytsema and Huttenga posted a 4:09.03 for a third-place finish.

The Turtles will travel to Hamilton on Tuesday.
