FREMONT–The West Michigan Mega cross country jamboree titles were won by the Hart boys and girls along with the Fremont boys and the Ludington girls.

The meet was run in Fremont. It was originally scheduled for Ludington. 

Due to flooding, the meet was moved from the Mason County Fairgrounds to Fremont’s Hill and Bale course.

While the meet was scored separately by division, the 14 schools in the West Michigan Conference raced together through a wet, muddy and sloppy course. 

In the Rivers division, the Hart Pirates dominated in both the boys and girls’ divisions which has been the case throughout the season.  Both claimed the team titles.

Hart’s boys finished with seven runners in the top ten, including the top 5 for a score of 15.

North Muskegon came in second place with 60 points while Ravenna finished third with 84. Mason County Central finished in fourth place with 105 and Hesperia rounded out the scoring finishing in fifth place with 119 points.

Taking top individual honors was senior Clayton Ackley with a time of 17:28.22. Hart senior Wyatt Dean came in second place with a time of 17:40.14 and his teammate senior Seth Ackley finished in third place with a time of 17:41.51.

Other top ten runners for the day included Max Stitt (Hart), Tanner Soelberg (Shelby), Easton Vander Zwaag (Hart), Caleb Bitely (Hart), Gavin Shirey (Mason County Central), Meldrum-Roy Jude (North Muskegon) and Josef Bromley (Hart).

Matthew Anton was the top runner from Ravenna finishing in the 14th position while Stephen Priese was the top runner for Hesperia coming in at the 20th spot and Elijah Rollf was the top runner for Holton finishing in the 24th position.

In the girls’ division, Hart finished with 17 points while seven Pirates finished in the top ten.

The No. 1 ranked runner in Division 3, sophomore Jessica Jazwinski, continued her dominance by crossing the finish line in the top spot with a time of 18:41.06. Her junior teammate, Alyson Enns, finished in second place with a time of 19:29.63 and North Muskegon senior Carolyn Bennett finished in third place with a time of 21:11.90.

Other top ten runners included Lexie Beth Nienhuis (Hart), Emma Soelberg (Shelby), Kenai Kohx (Hart), Savanna Owens (Hart), Abigail Pretty (Hart), Lauren Pretty (Hart) and Autumn Morton (Ravenna).

Vanessa Peltoniemi was the top runner for Holton finishing in 12th place while Adison Thorne was the top runner for Mason County Central finishing in the 15th position. Elyssa Wright was the top runner for Hesperia finishing in 35 place.

In the Lakes division the Fremont boys took the top spot with a total team score of 35 points.

Whitehall finished in second place with 50 points while Ludington was close behind with 59 points good enough for a third place finish. Montague finished in fourth place with 103 points and Manistee finished in fifth place with 121 points.

Whitehall senior Andre Richmond took top individual honors with a time of 17:28.62. His senior teammate Carter Mcllroy finished in second place with a time of 17:37.52 and Fremont junior Sean Pettis finished in third place with a time of 17:56.85.

Other top ten runners included Carter Sherman (Fremont), Jose Flores (Ludington), John Christensen (Fremont), Owen Fairchild (Montague), Peyton Ruel (Oakridge), Trey Keson (Ludington) and David Reisterer (Ludington).

Kaden Worch was the top runner for Manistee coming in 29th place while Landon Andrews was the top runner for Orchard View finishing in 48th place.

The Ludington Orioles took the top team spot in the girls division with a team score of 30 points. 

Other team scores included Whitehall with 56 points which was good enough for a second place finish. They were followed by Fremont with 71 points, Manistee with 90 points and Montague rounded out the team scoring with 118 points.

Fremont freshman Linnea Paige took top individual honors finishing with a time of 21:02.31. Finishing in second place was Whitehall senior Ariana Treat in a time of 21:11.03 nd Ludington sophomore Summer Brower came in third place with a time of 21:21.05.

Other top runners included Christina Theis (Ludington), Cecilia Postma (Manistee), Nadia Grierson (Ludington), Olivia Andersen (Ludington), Adalyn Britton (Whitehall), Cammie Erickson (Montague) and Autumn Bower (Ludington).

The top runner for Oakridge was Raegan Ruel who finished in 11th place while the top runner for Orchard View was Alexa Bordeaux who came in 45th place.
