SPRING LAKE–The Hart boys cross country team, along with the Spring Lake Lakers girls, captured team championships on Saturday morning at the Mell Hall Invitational held at Spring Lake High School.

In the boys’ division, the Hart Pirates finished with a total of 34 points while placing four runners in the top 10 spots.

The Whitehall Vikings came in second place with 86 points while Fruitport finished in third place with 102 points. Spring Lake wasn’t far behind finishing in fourth place with 109 points. North Muskegon wound up in seventh place with 169 points.

Taking top individual honors was Hart senior Clayton Ackley who finished in 16:27.81. Whitehall senior Carter Mcllroy came in third place at 16:47.09

Other top ten local runners included Seth Ackley (Hart/4th), Wyatt Dean (Hart/5th), Andre Richmond (Whitehall/6th), Peyton Ruel (Oakridge/7th), Parker Woodyk (Spring Lake/8th) and Max Stitt Hart/10th).

The top runner for Fruitport was Vincent Pollock who finished in 11th place and the top runner for North Muskegon was Meldrum-Roy Jude who came in 12th place.

In the girls division the Spring Lake Lakers placed five girls in the dozen spots to finish with 37 points as they got by the Hart Pirates who finished with 55 points and finished in second place.

Other local team scores included Whitehall with 128 points finished in fourth place. Fruitport came in sixth place with 188 points and Mona Shores finished in eighth place with 197 points.

Hart sophomore Jessica Jazwinski continued her string of first place finishes  with taking top individual honors  finishing in a time of 18:00.67. Her teammate junior Alyson Enns came in second place with a time of 18:41.95 and Spring Lake senior Lily Parker finished in third place in a time of 19:27.98

Other top ten local runners included Bea Reeser (Spring Lake/5th), Alexis Kotkowicz (Spring Lake/6th), Ariana Treat (Whitehall/7th) and Valerie Pollock (Fruitport/9th).

Raegan Ruel was the top runner for Oakridge finishing in 19th place while the top runner for Mona Shores was Diamond Madison who finished in 27th place.
