HART — It was Senior Night for the Hart volleyball team, and the final home match of the regular season.

The Pirates celebrated with a 3-0 victory over Mason Eastern in a nonleague volleyball m match on Thursday.

With the post-season looming, the Pirates were looking to generate some momentum.

Only the first set was close, as the Cardinals gave the Pirates a battle before the Hart pulled it out, 25-21.

But the next two were all Hart, with the Pirates rolled up 25-9 and 25-11 wins.

Mya Chickering, Pia Huebert, Julia Greiner, Mariana VaAgtmael and MaKayla Rockwell played on the Pirates’ court for the last time in their high school careers.

As the crowd looked on, they went out to the center of the court and were presented with gifts in pre-match ceremonies.

“These seniors have given so much time and energy to the program, and for that we are thankful,” Hart coach Amanda VanSickle said. “We thanked them for all they have done to help better our volleyball program. Their dedication and involvement will be missed in the future.”

Hart had a balanced attack, with Addi Hovey collecting 11 kills in the attack zone. Gabby Schmieding led with six aces at the service line, and also had one kill and one dig.

Chickering served for six aces and VanAgtmael following with four aces. Rockwell contributed eight assists, four kills, two digs and one ace. Copenhaver added one ace, three assists, one kill and two blocks. Huebert had one kill. Greiner added one kill and two digs, while Abby Hicks added one ace and Rayah Helenhouse ended the night with one ace and two kills.

Hart competes in their conference tournament at Hesperia on Saturday.
