HART-Hart sophomore Jessica Jazwinski has been chosen the Local Sports Journal girls cross country runner for the month of September.

Currently, Jazwinski is ranked as the top runner in Division 3 for girls in Michigan.

This season, Jazwinski has finished first at the Pete Moss Invitational with a time of 17:44, first place at the River’s Jamboree with a 18:14 and firstt at the Michigan State University Spartan Invitation with a time of 18:22.

She finished in fifth place at the Holland West Ottawa meet with an 18:30.

During her freshman season, Jazwinski finished runner-up in the West Michigan Conference, was regional champion in Division 3 (Region 20) and finished in third place at the state finals.

“Jessica is continuing where she left off last year,” Hart coach Terry Tatro said. “She is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever coached.

“Her dedication to the sport is unmatched,” Tatro said. “She trains throughout the summer months preparing for the fall season. She attacks all her workouts with a vengeance. She is highly competitive and enjoys ‘racing up’ in meets where she can compete with the best runners from other divisions. Her work ethic carries over to the classroom as she is an exceptional student.”

Jazwinski has a 4.0 grade-point-average.
