RAVENNA — It was not the way Hart had hoped to see the regular season end.

Carrying a three-game winning streak, and a chance to make the MHSAA playoffs, Hart was rocked by the Bulldogs with a 48-0 loss in a West Michigan Conference Rivers Division matchup.

Whether their 6-3 record will be enough to get them into the post-season remains to be seen. The Pirates will find out when the pairings are announced on Selection Sunday.

Ravenna, meanwhile, had a total offense of 337 yards, including 231 yards rushing with Hunter Hogan grinding out 111 yards on 13 carries while Drew Mabrito ran for 78 yards on eight touches.

Mabrito also had three pass receptions for 75 yards. Hogan finished 6-of-8 passing on the night for 106 yards and four touchdowns.

Even if Hart doesn’t make the playoffs, the Pirates still have plenty to be proud about this season.

Hart head coach Joe Tanis was philosophical about the loss.

“We talk about perspective all the time, and you don’t turn a program around overnight,” said Hart Coach Joe Tanis who was philosophical after the loss. “We feel comfortable about where we’re at.

“It was a tough way to end the season. But, the amount of growth our kids have shown is impressive. Our kids have had to work for everything they’ve gotten. They weren’t handed anything.

“So, I’m just incredibly proud of our kids. And, I’m incredibly proud of who they are as people in what we’re building. I thought our kids handled themselves with class tonight.”

Hart was held to just 58 yards total offense, all of it on the ground and lost one fumble while throwing five interceptions on the night.

Trayce Tate had 23 yards rushing on 21 carries for the Pirates, Eman Hertzler added 13 yards on four attempts and Austin Martinez gained 13 on two touches.

Defensive leaders for the Pirates included Chase Gale who had eight tackles and one tackle for loss, Adrian Tice followed with seven tackles and one-half tackle for loss and Martinez had six tackles.

Chase Thomas was the big man on defense for the Bulldogs with six tackles and one tackle for loss. Carter Schullo had seven tackles and 2.5 for loss. Mabrito contributed six stops.

Ravenna finished the regular season 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Hart was 3-3 in conference play.
