KENT CITY — After winning its first six games, the Kent Eagles have now dropped two straight after Friday’s 44-19 loss at home to White Pigeon.

The nonleague contest featured two teams connected with current Eagle coach Zach Gropp, who was a coach at White Pigeon.

On Friday, the Eagles had 271 yards rushing, led by Mason Westbrook with 11 carries for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Kyler Larson rushed 11 times for 74 yards and a touchdown. Kent City did not have any passing yards.

Defensively, the Eagles were led by Troy Atwood with 11 tackles and Kyle Monterusso with 10.

White Pigeon led 7-6 after one quarter and extended it to 30-13 at the half. White Pigeon scored the only two second-half touchdowns.

Kent City (6-2) hosts Grant in the regular-season finale next week.
