MADISON, WI. — The Muskegon Lumberjacks trailed for much of the first two periods on Friday night, but then along came the third period.

The Jacks scored three unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes and defeated the host Madison Capitols, 5-3.

On Saturday night, the teams will complete their two-game series in Madison.

The host Capitols grabbed a 2-0 lead after one period, but Muskegon tied it in the second.

Justin Solovey scored his second goal of the season at 13:00 of the middle period. Just 49 seconds later, Jake Richard scored his fourth of the season and the game was tied. Madison scored the final goal of the period and took a 3-2 lead into the second intermission.

In the decisive final period, Muskegon received goals from Richard, David Hymovich just 36 seconds apart that turned the one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead. Sacha Boisvert’s fourth goal of the season came at 16:29 and provided an insurance goal for the Jacks.

Each team had 35 shots on goal.

Muskegon goaltender Conor Callahan posted the victory in net, his fourth in five decisions this season.

Muskegon returns home on Nov. 5 to face the Youngstown Phantoms.
