PENTWATER–The Mason County Eastern boys’ cross country team won the Pentwater Falcon Invite on Saturday morning.

The event was at Golden Sands Golf Course.

The Cardinals finished the day with a score of 23 points.

Other team scores included Grand Rapids Union (67), McBain (69), Pentwater (85) and Hesperia (125).

Mason County Eastern senior Nathan Wing took top honors with a time of 17:41.75. McBain junior Claydon Ingleright came in second place while Pentwater junior Abe VanDuinen finished in third place at 18:36.72.

Other top ten runners included Luke Niedzielski (MCE), Alex Tyndall (MCE), Clay Shoup (MCE), Peter Hybza (MCE), Erick Tenorio-Bedolla (GR Union), Nathan Koetje (McBain) and Stephen Priese (Hesperia).

In the girls’ division, the McBain Ramblers got by Mason County Eastern with 40 points while the Cardinals finished with 42 points. Grand Rapids Union finished in third place with 60 points while Pentwater came in fourth place with 79 points.

Mason County Eastern sophomore Lucy Shoup took top honors with a time of 22:03.17. She was followed by Fruitport Calvary Christian sophomore Ava Wilson, who crossed the finish line in 22:26.54 and Mason County Eastern freshman Lauren Niedzielski came in third place with a time of 22:38.51.

Other top ten runners included Chelsi Eisenga (McBain), Olivia Wing (MCE), Vivian Idziak (GR Union), Shauna McLean (McBain), Rowan Ensing (McBain), Aubrey Goyings (Holton) and McKena Wilson (Fruitport Calvary Christian).

The top runner for Pentwater was senior Anna VanDuinen in 11th place.
