NORTON SHORES –The Spring Lake Lakers swimming team posted an OK Rainbow Conference matchup on Tuesday with a marrow victory over the Greater Muskegon co-op swimming team.

In the end, the Lakers posted a 98-88 victory over The Turtles.

Despite the loss, the Turtles posted nine personal record swims on Senior Night.

“A great dual swim meet, that saw many close races and good diving from both teams which made it an exciting meet,” said Coach Michael Homan. “It was a good last tune-up meet for us to see where we are at going into the conference swim meet next week.”

Sydney Sytsema was a double winner in the individual events with wins in the 50 free (26.20) and 100 free (58.39).

Sytsema also joined up with seniors Delaney Buckner, Naomi Huttenga and Robyn Hunt to take the top spot in the 200-medley relay (2:00.04).

Huttenga also claimed a win in the 100 butterfly (1:06.32).

The Turtles (6-5, 2-4) and Spring Lake will compete in the conference preliminaries at Hamilton on Friday, Nov. 4th.
