SPRING LAKE–Tori Fouchea’s accomplishments in the swimming pool have earned the Spring Lake senior the Local Sports Journal swimmer of the month honors for October.

Fouchea is a four-year competitor on the Laker varsity squad.

Fouchea is a team captain and a leader both in and out of the pool. She swam her state cut time in the 100 yard backstroke and was a part of the 200 free relay and 400 free relay that also qualified for state. She is within striking distance of making the time in the 200-yard freestyle.

“Her favorite events include the 200 free and the 100 back and she has been a state qualifier for multiple years in individual and relay events,” said Spring Lake coach Hannah Boes. “Tori is extremely goal-oriented and always leads the team well. Tori is dependable and chooses to push herself past what she thinks she can accomplish. She is always the first in the pool and the last to leave.”

Her desire to excel has helped her become a leader on the Laker team.

“Each day, she shows up to work and does so with a positive attitude and the desire to excel,” Boes said. “Tori is an asset to the team, her school, and she is bound to do great things in her future.”

Tori is the daughter of Steve and Tracy Fouchea. She has a 4.0 grade-point-average.
